The Dewi-Prys Thomas Trust promotes excellence in architecture, town planning, civic design, landscape design and other creative disciplines that contribute to the quality of life, identity and regeneration of Wales, either on its own or in collaboration with other organisations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dewi-Prys Thomas monograph<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The trust is delighted that the University of Wales Press has commissioned the eminent architectural historian Dr Alan Powers to edit a monograph on the life and work of Dewi-Prys Thomas, which will be published in 2026 as part of \u2018the architecture of Wales\u2019 series in cooperation with the Royal Society of Architects in Wales<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is Welsh architecture?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

To celebrate the centenary of the birth of Dewi-Prys Thomas, the trust held an event entitled Heddiw, Ddoe a \u2018Fory<\/strong>, at 12:00 on Tuesday, 2 August 2016, in the Societies 1 pavilion, National Eisteddfod of Wales, Abergavenny. With about 60 attendees, this considered the question of what is a Welsh architecture, and was chaired by Harri James with panellists from Loyn & Co, Rural Office for Architecture, Rhys Llwyd Davies \u2013 Architect | Pensaer and Efa Lois Thomas, Winner of the Eisteddfod Architecture Scholarship 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Royal Society of Architects in Wales<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

To mark the centenary of the birth of Dewi-Prys Thomas, trustee Jonathan Vining presented some work from Dewi\u2019s unpublished archive in the RSAW\u2019s Touchstone magazine for 2016. Twentieth Century Society<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The trust was delighted to to see ‘Cedarwood’, which won the Women’s Journal ‘House of the Year Award’ in 1960 featured in the spring 2014 of ‘C20’, the magazine of the Twentieth Century Society. To download a copy of the article, please click here<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Architecture gaining ground in Wales<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The trust held a debate entitled Ennill Tir Newydd<\/strong> at 16:00 on Tuesday, 7 August 2012, in the Architecture Pavilion, National Eisteddfod of Wales, Vale of Glamorgan. This considered issues of Welsh architectural identity and was chaired by Geraint Talfan Davies with panellists:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
